Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Local 25 of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.
Local 25 of the AMF was established in 1897; over time, the local has not only represented professional musicians in various local bands, but also members of the music department of Indiana State University (founded in 1895) and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, the oldest professional orchestra in Indiana (founded in 1926). Among the famous musicians who have come out of Terre Haute are the band leader and composer Claude Thornhill (“Snowfall,” 1941) and the country session guitarist J. T. Corenflos (d. 2020; Academy of Country Music Guitarist of the Year 2012 and 2020). Geographically, the jurisdiction of Local 25 includes Clay, Greene, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan and Vigo counties and the city of Clinton in Indiana; and Clay, Crawford and Edgar counties in Illinois.
AFM members, who number over 60,000, perform all styles of music—alternative rock, classical, pop, gospel, jazz, country, folk, rock, big band, reggae, contemporary Christian, etc.. Members of Local 25 of the AFM are secure in knowing that their organization is actively lobbying to promote legislation and public awareness that protects musicians’ interests, negotiating collective bargaining agreements with the recording industry, motion picture industry, jingle industry, TV networks, National Public TV and Radio, and providing excellent wages and working conditions for its members.
