Founded in 1926, the THSO is the oldest professional symphony orchestra in the state of Indiana. Started as a volunteer group of musicians who provided community entertainment, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra has evolved into a group of highly-skilled, paid professional musicians who complete auditions to demonstrate their skill level. We offer a subscription series of concerts from September through May as well as educational concerts for approximately 3,000 fourth graders from the Wabash Valley.
Members of the AFM form the committee that negotiates the Collective Barging Agreement (or CBA) and serve as the voice of the musicians to the THSO Board on working conditions in the orchestra.
